I agree with you Ted. Haaland literally makes me smile whenever I watch him. He is a one off, a unique talent and so exciting. Move over Messi and Ronaldo this fella is a megastar moving up.

Fivetide, ask Redknapp, he didn't know whether to fuck him or play him?

Was it Danii?

Sounds like I'm the odd one out these days, but I've never considered how pretty or handsome footballers are?! Apart from the extremes - for example I's hazard a guess that Grealish is objectively prettier than Dowie - I honestly couldn't tell you whether one average bloke wasuglier than the next. Country, dogs etc...

Forgetting who you support Haaland is an absolute joy to watch the power confidence and talent is amazing.

That's bang on about his career management. The stepping stone approach has worked well.

Contrast that with Ødegaard, who went straight from Strømgodset (something akin to Reading) to Real Madrid. He's finally coming good now at Arsenal, but he wasted years either bench warming or playing in the reserves, apart from a loan spell where he played regularly and improved.

Nobody knows what would have happened had Haaland gone straight from Molde to Man City, but I suspect things would not have worked as well for him.

Re: Just watched Erling Haaland's Hat trick against Man U.
The kid is 22 so can handle playing twice a week when Pep knows he isnt going to the World Cup and will have 6 weeks to freshen up in Nov/Dec.
His career has been well managed by his Dad going to the right clubs.
Was at Molde when the family went back to Norway after his Dads career was over and then stepping stone clubs .... Salzburg then Dortmund while he was developing.
Obviously built in a sensible buy out at Dortmund (are you watching Harry KANE?) so he could get to Man City.
As said there is probably another buy out at 25/26 so he can go to Real Madrid at his peak.

Re: Just watched Erling Haaland's Hat trick against Man U.
That’s part of the reason I guess why he went to City.? He won’t have to play every minute. Dortmund are notorious for fucking their youngsters long term with overplaying them. If he went to either of Spanish two he would have been another body. At least at City he getting taught by probably the best manager in the game.? I reckon he do 4 season here. Then look to move on.

Can't remember the last time he had an injury free season. I hope he goes on to play the full season to see the records he could break.

Re: Just watched Erling Haaland's Hat trick against Man U.
See Man City want to offer him a new contract already, to see off interest from a certain club in Spain who seem to think they can sign him in 2024.

Bloke is turning into a beast, will be up there or even looked upon as better than Pele or Maradona if he keeps his current form up for the next few years.

Still an ugly fucker though!!!!

Did make me laugh when Nunez scored in the Community Shield and Haaland missed a couple of easy chances and the Scousers went off the deep end.
Remember thinking at the time that Haaland has had a quiet game but should have had a hat-trick. Something he has rectified over and over while Headbutt Nunez sits and watches.

Re: Just watched Erling Haaland's Hat trick against Man U.
When you are watching a phenomenon like Haaland smash teams left right and centre you do have to sit back and enjoy it all, even if he isnt in your team. Best quote ive seen which sums it up is this

We are both mature enough and petty enough to acknowledge that the piss being boiled at Anfield, Old Trafford and elsewhere is clearly part of why we’re enjoying this all so much

Quite, quite

Re: Just watched Erling Haaland's Hat trick against Man U.
Absolutely wouldn't surprise me at all, and who can blame him? He has a release clause even with City, doesn't he?

(Marca claims The release clauses at Manchester City are 200 million euros in 2024 and 175m euros in 2025.)

Very smart of him and his advisors. Gives them a lot of power to determine his career path and accomplish everything he wants.

El - I believe there is some sort of mutual agreement that he will be allowed to join Madrid later. So yes he will play for them down the track.

Re: Just watched Erling Haaland's Hat trick against Man U.
The good thing is they can't even pull the 'City and their money ruining football' card as with their usual defence in these circumstances seen as their own beloved clubs have spent way more on inferior players this very summer.

Probably pull out some sort of 'Well they are just lucky and only got him because his dad played for them' excuse instead.

The kid just seems motivated by excelling and winning so I imagine he sticks around for a few years. I bet he'll want to test himself in Spain for Real or Barca at some point though.

It very enjoyable watching Man City steamrolling the entitled elite. And the gentleman of the media having kittens. Be nice if he stays he’s prime years in the Premiership.

I thought When we played Wolves the other day that Costa must have a bit of the Benjamin Button, he looks younger than he did 10 years ago.
Wished I could say the same ☹️
